We have been working hard over the last several weeks to put in place all the necessary measures to keep our volunteers, clients, customers, and donors safe. We know that this has been a difficult time for everyone, and we really appreciate all the patience and support from our amazing community!
Starting Monday, June 22nd, we will be open to the public during our regular hours – Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
While we strive to continue to offer the amazing quality and prices that have made us the City of Kawartha Lakes best second-hand store for over 2 decades, we have implemented changes in our operations, as per the Government of Ontario and Public Health Guidelines due to the COVID 19 virus pandemic.
Shoppers will now be greeted by a customer service staff who will provide assistance and information to shoppers and introduce them to the new safety procedures we have implemented.
At this time, we will be accepting donations by appointment only. We have relocated our donation drop off to our side door off the parking lot (painted bright purple for easy identification) to reduce the traffic at our front entrance. This will allow donors to pull up to our back door to drop items at their scheduled appointment times. Please call Vicky’s at
705-878-5938 to book your donation drop off time.
We have:
- relocated our sales desk and reorganized store departments to provide more space for social distancing
- installed plexi-glass on our sales desk for added protection
- implemented a “one way” entry and exit to the store
- installed physical distancing and directional markers throughout the store
- implemented face coverings for shoppers – shoppers are encouraged to bring their own, and we have a limited supply for those who do not have a mask
- installed touchless hand sanitizers, and made sink in the hallway available for hand washing
- Increased frequency of cleaning & sanitization
- Implemented a 24-48 hour “hold” policy for donations and clothing that has been tried on in the store
- Developed procedures for staff and volunteers to maintain the 6ft physical distancing rule as much as possible, and to wear face coverings, when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Limited the number of customers in the store at one time. This means shoppers may need to lineup outside if we are at capacity.
- Acquired a tap debit machine and will continue to take cash as well
- Removed our previous change rooms as per Ontario regulations, and will offer an alternate change room on a limited basis.
We welcome our shoppers to Vicky’s Values as we work together to maintain our health and safety during this pandemic. Thank you for continuing to support abused women and children in our community and for choosing Vicky’s for your shopping experience.
