Emergency Women’s Shelter
Victoria’s Shelter is a safe, confidential place for women, with or without children, who are leaving an abusive or unsafe situation. The shelter is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and you do not need a referral to reach out for help.
Women staying at Victoria’s Shelter are supported in a calm, respectful environment where safety, choice, and privacy come first.

Emergency transportation is available to help women get to the shelter safely.

- One-on-one counselling and individualized support
- Personalized safety planning
- Help understanding the legal system
- Support applying for financial assistance
- Help finding affordable or longer-term housing
- Connections to health and wellness services
- Referrals to employment, education, and immigration supports
- Support for women staying with children
Items to Bring
You do not need to bring anything with you to come to the shelter. If it is safe to do so, you may wish to bring:
- Prescription medications for you or your children
- Health cards and other identification
- Important financial or legal documents
- Essential personal belongings
- A favourite toy or blanket for your child
