Women’s Resources of Kawartha Lakes provides emergency shelter services, counselling and support to abused women and their children in the City of Kawartha Lakes. We are currently seeking women interested in casual work in our Shelter. The candidates must be available for a variety of shifts particularly evenings, overnight and weekends. Our services are provided within a feminist, anti-oppression/anti-racism philosophy.
Skills & Knowledge required:
- Experience in residential, shelter or counselling environment
- Post-secondary education in social services; inclusive of addictions and/or mental health
- Thorough understanding & gender analysis of woman abuse & trauma
- Strong risk assessment, crisis intervention and trauma-informed counselling skills
- Effective organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Exceptional verbal, written communication skills
- Computer proficiency in Windows and database platform
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Available and flexible for shift scheduling
- Current First Aid/CPR
